A warm and friendly welcome always awaits our guests at the Obertrauner Hof, set within the heart of the rural village of Obertraun. Together with our local activity provider we emphasize on the bounty provided by nature and how to preserve the environment whilst enjoying the numerous activities the mountains and lakes have to offer.

Economic Responsibility:

• We at OHactive.com provide holidays that are entirely based in the mountains surrounding the village of Obertraun.
• Our Bed & Breakfast accommodation is set in the village and is managed by a lady that was born and has lived in the village most of her life. Together with our guests eating out at local restaurants and spending money in local shops this is helping to support the local economy and employment.
• We source most of our produce locally and support a number of local businesses.
• We employ only local guides who are expertly trained and their in-depth knowledge of the mountains and the area is invaluable.

Environmental Responsibility:

• Together with our local guides we always stress the importance of being environmentally friendly and educate and encourage our guests to be aware of the dangers and consequences of their actions by discarding their litter and taking nature for granted.
• The area is the home of the Dachstein Caves, Koppenbrule and Ice Caves; guests are
  provided with guided tours explaining the geological beginnings and history of the area and are educated to respect their surroundings.
• We encourage guests to use our transfer service to and from the airport. We use a local taxi firm providing a vehicle to cater for eight people so as to minimize the exhaust emissions.
• We use notices in all bathrooms asking guests to consider their use of water, a precious natural commodity.
• We recycle cardboard, all cans, plastic bottles, glass, books, newspapers and magazines; using the facilities and services provided by the local authority.

Social Responsibility:

• The Obertrauner Hof is situated at the heart of the small village of Obertraun, having been dormant for 2 years. Our wish was to bring it to life and be the social hub of the village, providing a central point at which the local villagers could meet.
• The Obertrauner Hof is home to Café Brix, a business run by a resident of Obertraun providing a year round, popular social venue for the villagers and guests alike.
• Boasting a unique blend of 7,000 year old history and stunning natural beauty, the Inner Salzkammergut is a special place to visit. This remarkable region has brought forth numerous prehistoric finds and is the home of an entire cultural epoch. Indeed, it is not only the region’s cultural heritage but also its majestic mountains and unspoilt nature that led the UNESCO to declare it a cultural and natural World Heritage Site. Our local guides are not only there for our client’s safety and enjoyment; together with our Manager they are also able to share informally their knowledge of the area and the mountain environment.
